What makes it different
The server does not read along
Messages, announcements, documents and health data are encrypted on the participants' devices. The server only stores ciphertext – we cannot open it either.
Two guardians are the normal case
Rights, signatures and notifications belong to people, not to one “main contact address”. Separated parents both get the same.
Everything in Germany
Servers at Hetzner in Germany, no third-party services in the background, no tracking – not on this website either.

The full source code is licensed AGPL-3.0. If you want to know whether the encryption holds, you can look instead of believing us.
Where the project stands – honestly
Nestklar is under construction. There is a working API, a web admin and an Android app for parents, plus a demo with invented data. 30 features of the public list are usable today.There is no production use with real children yet.
Before the first real deployment: an external cryptography review, a penetration test and the trademark registration. We write this here because otherwise you would learn it at the parents' evening – from someone else.
